Supernova - SF June 21-23

Supernova was great and being in SF was  refreshing, though I was there for less than 48 hours.

• Speaking on the Personal Infospheres workshop was interesting. Amazingly enough, the cliché  'information overload' wasn't mentined even once; a good first sign to what evolved into a very interesting and dynamic discussion.  A surprising number of people made it to the workshop considering it discussion at 8:30 am on the first day of the workshops.

The room was full and  Jeff Clavier, (who moderated the workshop) decided to run it as an unpanel, so the conversation took interesting directions.  100_0976

Here are my collegues on this panel:    Tariq Krim (Netvibes)  Dalton Caldwell (imeem), Hans Peter Brondmo (Plum), Ben Golub (Plaxo).

• And the entire team was busy pitching. Here's Efrat interviewed by the one and only Cathy Brooks for a podcast.

• The first collection of eSnips gear (used as shwag) rocked at our table. This little bird will be a big star, no doubt about  it, it only needs a name of a star.  Apparently there was a similar looking creature called  Shadok staring in a witty, controversial French cartoon http://www.e-atlantide.com/thematiques/shadok/  (Fred thanks for pointing this out).  So this bird even has connected relatives that can help her get far in showbiz 

eSnips Logo Bird: A star is born!

Esnips_bird_1The eSnips team is a bunch of terribly opinionated people. There's only one thing that is in full consensus:  the eSnips bird & logo,  we love it, and it's not just us,  everyone loves it.

The sweet gang of kids modeling here are second generation eSnippers, the kids of our marketing diva – Hagit (more on Hagit soon).  The shirts are the first in an entire line of cool products such as coasters and mouse-pads that will be released soon carrying the eSnips brand.  Coming soon.

BTW, don't you think it's about time we find a name for the eSnips bird?  That's were we don't have consensus again:  Suggestions are very welcome.

When to know you travel a LOT?

I just realized on my recent transatlantic flight what are the little signs that tell me that I REALLY travel  A LOT these days  (too much):

  • Not sleeping in transatlantic flights doesn't drive me nuts.
  • I am perfectly calm in my coach seat, not even thinking of a better seat further in the front with leg room.
  • I remain calm when after  a 12 hour flight the gate is occupied or the  plane circles in the air for 45 additional minutes.
  • I've seen all the movies the entertainment system offers and no longer laugh  when watching the same Frasier episode for the fourth time.
  • When my suitcase stays half full in the living room until the next flight
  • and I realize I have more US / Europe jack cables and connectors than makeup in my suitcase

Next trip to SF - I'll be speaking at the Personal Infosphere Workshop

Packing again, and the destination is (...again) SF; to speak at the Personal Infosphere Workshop at Supernova (June 21 - 23).

Supernova_1  The workshop sounds great. Moderator is Jeff Clavier (SoftTech VC) whom I've been wanting to meet for quite a while. Other speakers at the workshop are Dalton Caldwell (imeem), Hans Peter Brondmo (Plum), Tariq Krim (Netvibes), Ben Golub (Plaxo). I'm actually curious to meet and hear Hans from Plum who's company is most related to what we do than the others on the workshop.

Here's the description of the workshop: "Taming the torrent of information available to each of us will require tools that are inherently social (because there is wisdom in crowds), converged (because everything isn't on the Web), and multi-faceted (because everyone sees the world differently). A new generation of tools is using these characteristics to deliver value in a surprising range of contexts"
